The Board

Leslie Alessandro

Leslie Celeste Alessandro is a visionary leader whose career has been marked by a relentless commitment to making the world a better place. With a diverse background spanning two non-profits and the creative realms of advertising and marketing, Leslie’s impact is profound.

Her journey began at Covenant House California, where she worked with the Executive Director in a relentless pursuit of aiding runaway, abused, and HIV-positive youth, helping these vulnerable individuals secure housing, education, and employment opportunities.


Tayler Cusick Hollman

Tayler Cusick Hollman is a tech Founder and marketing consultant who works with small business owners to help them develop the skills, strategies, and stuff they need to have impact and longevity. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Irvine and a M.A. in Sociology from California State University, Fullerton. Prior to making her entrepreneurial leap, Tayler worked at The YMCA of San Diego and The Active Network where she worked strategically with sales, technical, and management teams to conceptualize and execute marketing strategies and campaigns. She is excited to support Humanity for Girls because she knows young women are capable of doing bold things when they have access to education, resources, and mentorship.

Fred Smith

Fred Smith served as President of HOPE Coalition America, a division of Operation HOPE, Inc., and served as a senior advisor to the chairman of Operation HOPE. He is the former President and Chief Operating Officer of Operation Hope, Inc., a national nonprofit that provides economic education, financial literacy, and financial dignity services, and Deputy Treasurer of the State of California. 

As Deputy Treasurer for Public Finance, he was responsible for all general obligation bonds, lease revenue bonds, revenue anticipation notes, and the State’s commercial paper program. He managed the State’s portfolio of outstanding debt and the annual cash-borrowing plan needed to finance the State’s fiscal operational budget and represented the Treasurer on twenty-five finance and public interest committees. As Assistant Treasurer served as Executive Director of the California Debt Limit Allocation Committee and was responsible for allocating $1.5 billion annually in private activity bond financing in California.


Annette Schatz

Annette Schatz is a dynamic thinker dedicated to forging global business partnerships that establish credibility, enhance reputation, and elevate share and brand awareness. 

An accomplished C-Suite Executive with a remarkable track record spanning over 20 years, she is widely respected for her ability to successfully position products and deliver innovative themes and solutions that drive company performance and revenue growth. Her strong educational qualifications include a Master of Business Administration from the prestigious University of Minnesota.

Annette is a motivational leader who excels at managing the tactical aspects of the product development lifecycle across various channels, including apparel, non-apparel, and fine jewelry. Her wealth of experience and proven expertise make her a highly effective leader in driving strategic initiatives and achieving business objectives. 

Annette's passion for innovation and keen business acumen have consistently delivered results and positioned her as a trusted and influential executive in her field.

Angela De Los Santos

Angela De Los Santos is a 20-year veteran who is a mission-driven social worker with experience spearheading programs in the social service field. Her core competencies include multicultural fluency, self-care advocacy, advocating for social justice, human rights, capacity building, community outreach and engagement.

Throughout her illustrious journey, Angela has consistently served as a cornerstone of social impact, holding pivotal roles such as a cabinet member for ATI (Alternatives to Incarceration), a board member for LACPA (Los Angeles Central Providers Collaborative) a dedicated mentor for At Risk Youth, and a distinguished AmeriCorps alumnus. Her most anticipated endeavor lies in leveraging her expertise in funding sources to catalyze transformative change and champion the noble cause of Humanity For Girls.


Jason Berg

Jason Berg, an award-winning Creative Director and Copywriter with over twenty years of experience in advertising and marketing will serve as an advisor. His wealth and expertise span integrated advertising campaigns, brand strategy, video scriptwriting, digital media, team management, and content strategy. Jason’s capacity to see the broader perspective will be pivotal in driving our grassroots initiatives, particularly in the advisement around Humanity For Girls' creative educational curricular programming. 

As a father of two children, one being a girl, Humanity for Girls has meaning for Jason. He supports fostering an environment where women and girls everywhere can dream big, have unbridled access, be fearless about their aspirations, and prosper. 


John Lesley Morton

John Lesley is a Creative Strategy Associate at MKG based in New York City with experience in copywriting, strategy, and storytelling. His client list includes working with clients such as Meta, Google, and Sony. His ability to blend artistic vision with strategic thinking has resulted in innovative campaigns that captivate audiences and drive tangible results.

Raised in a single-mother-led, tight-knit Southern family on Harmon Street in Birmingham Alabama - he spends his days guiding his work with the principles of his upbringing - love, patience, candor, and integrity.

In May 2020, John Lesley created a digital media company, Harmon Street Media to help brands amplify their messages and meet important needs during the COVID-19 global pandemic by producing virtual conferences, events, and centralizing brand identity, voice, and culture.


Donovan Jacobs

Donovan Jacobs is a grant writer and development consultant who has served numerous nonprofit organizations focused on economic and community development that impacts at-risk, low-income and minority populations of all ages. He has worked with the California Community Economic Development Association as both an in-house grant writer and consultant to community based organizations across California; Coalition for Responsible Community Development (for which he obtained an $800,000 federal Community Economic Development grant in 2021); Initiating Change in Our Neighborhoods CDC (which he helped secure renewals for its City of Los Angeles Business Source Centers in the San Fernando Valley); New Economics for Women; Operation HOPE; and Valley Economic Development Center.

As part of Advisory, Donovan will leverage extensive experience in grant opportunities, proposal preparation, and optimizing funding applications.  He’ll offer tailored funding insights to diversify revenue streams aligning with Humanity For Girls mission.  The organization will benefit from his proficiency in development planning, goal assistance, strategic partnerships, compliance, program expansion to reach a wider audience and financial management.


Halima Muhammad

Halima Muhammad is the Director of HR Guidance at Bambee HR with 25 years of Human Resources experience. At Bambee, Halima leads a team of HR Managers who provide HR guidance to nearly 10,000 Small business owners across the United States. Before joining Bambee, Halima held numerous positions at AT&T for over 20 years, including SR. HR Business Partner for the Direct TV organization, and Associate Director of Consumer Markets Sales and Service. Halima's expertise is in Performance Management, HR Compliance, HR Guidance, Sales and Service, Labor Union Negotiation, Consumer Markets, and Customer Success.

As an advisor for Humanity For Girls, Halima is dedicated to providing guidance on critical areas and implementing best practices to ensure unparalleled success for the women and girls we serve.
